About Lakehead University
Lakehead University is your place to live and learn. Date of Establishment
Lakehead University was established on July 1, 1965.
Our Chancellor is Lyn McLeod.
Our Interim President and Vice-Chancellor is Dr. Moira McPherson.
Lakehead University has 8,680 students, 7,042 of which are full-time (as of November 1, 2011/2012).
Faculty and Staff
We employ 319 full-time faculty and 1,850 staff, including 715 full-time positions (as of 2011/2012).
Our University is a comprehensive institution, which offers a broad range of degree and diploma programs within ten faculties.

Total University Expenditure
Our University had a total operating expenditure of $159 million in 2010/2011.
In September 2006, the Orillia Campus opened its doors at Heritage Place with a charter class of 104 students. The University opened a second Orillia location on University Avenue in 2010, which offers a full campus experience with residence and cafeteria facilities. The combined enrolment at the two Orillia campus sites grew to over 1,300 students between 2012 – 2013.
